The new cycle lane connects with the civic promenade as far as Binissalem and gives continuity to the Jaime I and Jaime II cycle lane from the Mateu Cañellas sports centre.
The work has also included the replacement of the asphalt pavement to improve safety and traffic flow in the area.
Inca completes work on the Ronda Migjorn and opens a new cycle lane
The Inca Town Council has completed the renovation work on the Ronda Migjorn, a project that has involved the implementation of a new bicycle lane and the improvement of the asphalt paving of this road. This completes the connection of the civic axis between Carrer Jaume I and Carrer Jaume II and the road to Binissalem, thus reinforcing the municipality’s commitment to sustainable mobility.
“With this action we are taking another step towards transforming Inca’s mobility, offering more sustainable alternatives and improving road safety. In addition, we are continuing to develop our asphalting plan to guarantee the good condition of our streets,” said the mayor of Inca, Virgilio Moreno.
The project has contemplated the removal of a section of the traffic lane in the Inca-Palma direction to make room for a two-way civic axis, which extends from the Gran Via Colón roundabout to the end of the Ronda Migjorn. This new road connects with the existing cycle lanes, allowing users to cycle from the Mateu Cañellas sports centre to the Crist Rei neighbourhood safely and efficiently.
In addition to the creation of the civic axis, the asphalt pavement has been completely renewed to guarantee its durability and improve the safety of all road users. The work, carried out by the company AMER E HIJOS, S.A., has had a total cost of 439,540.76 euros, VAT included.
