21 young people have had the opportunity to complete their knowledge in the Directorate General of Emergencies and Interior of the islands since July 2023
The Govern de les Illes Balears has reinforced since the beginning of the current legislature its commitment to the training of trainees in emergency matters. In total, 21 young people have had the opportunity to complete their training with the islands’ emergency services since July 2023.
The last seven to join this programme, managed by the public business entity Gestión de Emergencias de las Illes Balears (GEIB) through collaboration agreements with vocational training centres, have done so in Marratxí at the headquarters of the Directorate General for Emergencies and the Interior. The duration of the internships is between two and four months, depending on the hours of each programme, which range from 170 to 400 hours. During this training process, the students have the opportunity to do practical training in rescue, first aid, handling of anti-pollution material, fire extinguishing and coordination and command post, among others.

The government reinforces its commitment to emergency training with 7 new trainees
Before these seven and since the beginning of 2025, two other young people have been trained at the Directorate General of Emergencies’ centre in Ibiza.
Thanks to this programme, students coming from Vocational Training degrees oriented towards the emergency sector can carry out their academic internships with the professional services of the Balearic Islands.
This year, there are three educational centres with collaboration agreements with the Government of the Balearic Islands. These are the CIFP Francesc de Borja Moll in the Balearic Islands, the ISFP Claudio Galeno in Madrid, and the Mas Camarena Pre-University Complex in Valencia. The GEIB plans to increase the number of centres and students this year.
Since the beginning of the legislature (July 2023), six centres have committed to excellence and the specialisation of their students in collaboration with the emergency services of the islands. These are the CIPFP Complejo Educativo de Cheste (Valencia), the Complejo Preuniversitario Mas Camarena in Valencia, the ISFP de Emergencias y Protección Civil Claudio Galeno in Madrid and Murcia, the IES Las Alfabegues (Valencia) and the CIPFP Francesc de Borja Moll. In total, including the 2025 students, 21 students have so far completed their training alongside emergency professionals from the Balearic Islands.
The Government of the Balearic Islands thus reaffirms its commitment to safety and prevention, understanding that the best way to ensure an effective response to emergency situations is through the training of highly qualified professionals.
In addition, the Govern welcomes the fact that more and more educational centres are choosing the islands to train their students in the field of emergencies, which is a recognition of the quality and professionalism of the services in our community.
