The town of Can Picafort will have 450 new school places from the next academic year
With this new school centre, the town of Can Picafort will have a total of 450 new educational places from the next school year. In addition, the centre will have a UEECO classroom with capacity for 7 school places.
The construction of the new CEIP began at the end of 2023 and the works are expected to be completed in the second quarter of this year. The centre consists of two main buildings. On the one hand, the classroom building is rectangular and with three levels: the ground floor and two upper floors. This building is organised in such a way that the main classrooms face the northeast façade, while the southwest façade houses the complementary classrooms, toilets, facilities and staircases.
On the other hand, there is a second, single-storey building, which houses the administration, the canteen and the gymnasium. This building is positioned perpendicular to the classroom building and leaves an open corridor between the two, which serves as access and connects with the primary porch, facing east.
In addition, the classroom building has a porch on the northwest façade, for the children’s playground, and the administration, dining room and gymnasium building has another porch on the northeast façade, for the primary playground. The centre will have two lines and will have 6 units of infant education and 12 units of primary education.
The budget for the work is 6,914,493.16 euros. The works are financed by the Insularity Factor of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands.
The commissioning of the new centre will respond to the lack of school places detected in recent years in the area and will help to decongest the CEIP Voramar. This new infrastructure will provide a suitable educational environment for all students.
