Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB) has completed the renovation of the pontoons in the port of Sant Antoni de Portmany, in Eivissa. This Thursday the work was officially handed over, which was completed on schedule and before the start of the tourist season, with the aim of guaranteeing the full operation of the port during the busiest months of the year.

The work, promoted by PortsIB with a total investment of 879,986 euros (VAT included), consisted in the complete replacement of the existing floating infrastructures, which were in an advanced state of deterioration due to their age. The project included both the dismantling of the old pontoons and the manufacture and installation of new, fully equipped modules.

The new pontoons incorporate state-of-the-art supply turrets, updated water and electricity networks, cleats, ladders and all the necessary elements to guarantee the safety, comfort and functionality of the facilities for both users and professional operators.

With a completion period of six months, the work has been carried out according to schedule. The intervention responds to the need to modernise the port infrastructure and reinforce safety in one of the most important ports for nautical and tourist activity on the island.

This action is part of the plan to improve and modernise the port of Sant Antoni, which also includes other initiatives underway, such as the project to renovate the pavement in the Passeig de la Mar. With an investment of more than one million euros, this second project aims to bring the urban environment into line with the current aesthetics of the seafront, contributing to the overall improvement of the port environment.

Ports de les Illes Balears thus continues to advance in its commitment to the maintenance and improvement of the port infrastructures of the archipelago, focusing on safer, more efficient spaces that are fully integrated with their surroundings.
