Inca Gears Up for Dijous Gros 2025 with Expanded Activities and the Return of “Botiga al Carrer”

Inca, the capital of the Raiguer region in Mallorca, is set to celebrate its iconic spring festival, Dijous Gros, on Thursday, May 8, 2025. This year’s edition promises a vibrant array of activities, including the return of the popular “Botiga al Carrer” initiative, where over 70 local businesses will offer special promotions and discounts throughout the week.​

Dijous Gros 2025

Festival Highlights:

  • May 6: The festivities commence with a traditional proclamation in Plaça d’Espanya, delivered by Pep Nicolau Parra. The event will also feature a tribute to the late Maties Matemalas and musical performances by the Antoni Torrandell School and the Revetla d’Inca.​
  • May 7: An exhibition titled “150 Years of the Train in Mallorca” will open at the ADEMA campus, commemorating the island’s railway heritage
  • May 8 (Dijous Gros): The city will host its traditional weekly market, complemented by live music, children’s workshops, cultural exhibitions, and gastronomic offerings. A highlight of the day is the 11th Popular Fava Bean Lunch, with proceeds supporting Inca-Mallorca Solidària. Local restaurants and wineries will also feature special fava bean dishes in honour of this staple of Mallorcan cuisine.

The celebration will continue into the weekend with concerts, art exhibitions, the traditional Quintades d’Inca, the International Puppet Theater Festival, and the Inca Street Art event.
