This measure will speed up the execution of strategic projects funded by the Next Generation EU program

A total of €1,490,000 will be allocated to support the transition toward a more sustainable and efficient tourism model

The Consell de Govern has today authorised, for reasons of public interest, the 100% advance payment of grants for projects aimed at promoting circularity in the tourism sector in the Balearic Islands. These grants are part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), funded by the European Union through the Next Generation EU initiative.

The call, with a budget of €1,490,000, aims to promote the transition to a more sustainable and efficient tourism model through projects that foster a circular economy. The grants will support actions that help reduce waste, reuse resources, promote local (“zero-kilometre”) products, and, in general, encourage a tourism management approach that is more respectful of the environment and the territory.

100% Advance Payment Authorised for Tourism Circularity Projects in the Balearic Islands

With this measure, the Government of the Balearic Islands seeks to ensure that recipients can carry out their projects as quickly as possible, thereby contributing to the achievement of the milestones and objectives established by Component 14 of the PRTR, which focuses on tourism sustainability and circularity.

The Balearic Islands Tourism Strategy Agency (AETIB), a knowledgeable and experienced entity and a collaborator in the project, will be responsible for managing the implementation of these initiatives. The subproject linked to this grant call is part of the Destination Cohesion Action (ACD) titled “Circularity as a Pillar of Sustainable Competitiveness in the Balearic Islands.”

This initiative forms part of the Regional Plan for Tourism Sustainability and the National Enogastronomy Plan, and is included in the annex to the 2024–2026 Strategic Subsidy Plan of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands, approved by the Consell de Govern on April 19, 2024, and amended on March 24, 2025.

Through this agreement, the regional government reaffirms its commitment to a sustainable tourism model that generates wealth, high-quality employment, and well-being for the population, while also contributing to the preservation of the natural and cultural resources of the Balearic Islands.
