These individuals will now be cared for by the public social inclusion network of the Consell de Mallorca.

The president of the Institut Mallorquí d’Afers Socials (IMAS) and Councillor for Social Welfare of the Consell de Mallorca, Guillermo Sánchez, accompanied by the Island Director of Social Inclusion, Andreu Jaume, visited the facilities of Ca l’Ardiaca in Palma this morning to convey a message of reassurance to the people who had been receiving support from the altruistic association Es Refugi.

During the visit, they informed the nearly 20 users that from now on, they will be assisted by the public social inclusion network managed by IMAS. “The message is very clear: none of these individuals will be left without support. At IMAS, we have activated all necessary mechanisms to ensure that they continue receiving care, accommodation, and support through the public system, with full guarantees,” stated Guillermo Sánchez.

IMAS professional teams have already begun conducting individual assessments of each case in order to provide tailored responses based on each person’s situation. “We are approaching this change with respect, attentive listening, and professionalism, aiming to uphold the dignity and peace of mind of those affected,” added the Councillor for Social Welfare.

Before concluding his visit, Guillermo Sánchez took a moment to recognise the internal team’s efforts: “I especially want to thank the entire team from the Directorate of Social Inclusion for their hard work over the past few days. They have acted quickly and diligently to offer a reliable solution to the users of Es Refugi.”

Finally, Guillermo Sánchez acknowledged the legacy of the organisation: “I want to sincerely thank Es Refugi for their work over more than 30 years. They have been a reference in supporting the homeless and have played a decisive role in making Mallorca a more compassionate and supportive land.”
