The Balearic Government Reaffirms Its Commitment to Road Safety Education with a Training Course for Local Police Officers
The course is jointly organised by the Institut de Seguretat Pública de les Illes Balears (ISPIB) and the Escola Balear d’Administració Pública (EBAP). It is coordinated by Llúcia Pons, head of the EVIB program, and includes the participation of 13 officers from Mallorca, 5 from Menorca, and 2 from Ibiza. All attendees have either previously completed the Level 1 course or possess an equivalent certified qualification.
With a total duration of 25 hours (20 in-person and 5 practical), this train-the-trainer course aims to enhance the pedagogical skills of road safety instructors so they can deliver educational activities on safe mobility and road safety targeted at various community groups. The goal is to effectively contribute to reducing traffic accidents on roads and in urban environments.
The course employs an active and reflective methodology, focusing on safe and sustainable mobility. Content includes topics such as risk and accident rates, traffic accident analysis, learning styles, trainer profiles, and various assessment strategies. Participants also work on developing a learner-centred educational program and apply a continuous assessment model, understood as a process integrated into the entire training activity.
