Screening of Victory Documentary Moves Audience During Blue Week with a Story of Overcoming Adversity and Hope
The event, held at the Port Centre with the attendance of over 200 secondary school students, featured the institutional presence of the President of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Margalida Prohens; the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Jaume Bauzà; the President of the Balearic Islands Port Authority, Javier Sanz; the Regional Secretary for Culture and Sports, Pedro Vidal; the Director General of Early Childhood, Diversity Support and Educational Improvement, Neus Riera; and the Secretary General of the Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle, Juana Maria Forteza.
The event began with a welcome speech by the President of the Port Authority, followed by an introduction to the documentary by Regional Secretary Pedro Vidal. After the screening, a discussion was held with Nil Riudavets himself and the Regional Secretary, during which the attending students actively participated.
Victory recounts the tragic accident suffered by Riudavets on May 1, 2019, during a competition in Catalonia, which resulted in permanent paralysis of his right arm. Despite this dramatic turn, the triathlete embarked on a journey of redemption and return to sport, culminating in his Paralympic qualification and bronze medal in Paris.
Through events like this, the Government of the Balearic Islands reinforces the values of resilience, sport, culture, and education that shape Blue Week—an initiative aimed at connecting citizens with maritime heritage, port activities, and a spirit of collective perseverance.
