Santanyí Municipal School of Music to Host Mallorca’s Fifth Professional Conservatory
During a meeting held this Tuesday with families of students from the Santanyí Municipal School of Music, the school’s management team, and representatives from the Town Hall, the Secretary for Educational Development, Mateu Suñer, announced that the municipality will soon have a Professional Conservatory of Music. This will be the fifth such institution on the island of Mallorca, joining the existing conservatories in Palma, Inca, Manacor, and Felanitx.
The Ministry is currently engaged in the authorisation process for professional music studies with the aim of addressing the social and educational needs of the region. At the same time, it seeks to expand and diversify the range of available places in both elementary and professional music education.
This initiative will not only improve access to high-quality, regulated music education for local youth but also respond to a long-standing demand from the local educational community and the Santanyí Town Council, which has been advocating for the creation of such a centre for several years.
Meanwhile, the Santanyí Town Council is finalising a comprehensive renovation project for the current Municipal School of Music facilities, intending to adapt them to meet the requirements and standards of the future Professional Conservatory.
