Mallorca Island Council Launches Water Bike Activity for Seniors
Pedro Bestard, Second Vice President and Councillor for Environment, Rural Affairs, and Sports of the Consell de Mallorca, introduced and tested the innovative water bikes himself. He emphasised: “This unique activity is a preview of the new program we are developing at the Department, specifically aimed at seniors, with a strong focus on aquatic sports.”
Water bikes are a new tool to promote healthy, enjoyable activities for older adults. They allow users to pedal safely and with stability, making it easy to stay active while enjoying the natural surroundings. For individuals over 65, their use can support cardiovascular health, burn calories, and strengthen leg muscles.
“The Council will include water bikes in the regular sports programming for seniors. This is part of our ongoing commitment to citizen health and the continued innovation of recreational activities led by the Island Sports Directorate,” Bestard stated.
