22nd Fira. Since Wednesday, May 21, the streets of Binissalem have transformed into a vibrant stage of tradition, culture, and craftsmanship to mark the 22nd edition of the Fira de la Pedra i l’Artesania. This event, running through Sunday, May 25, honours the town’s emblematic stone and the master stonemasons who have shaped its architectural and cultural identity.

The mayor of Binissalem, Víctor Martí Vallès, emphasised the importance of the fair as a tribute to the stonemasonry trade and the local heritage: “We’ve been a National Historic-Artistic Site since 1983 thanks to our wealth of natural stone. This fair is a tribute to the stonemasons, the craft, and the identity of our town.”

The 22nd Fira de la Pedra i l’Artesania is much more than an annual event for the people of Binissalem: it is a living expression of their identity and collective pride. This fair was born from the desire to preserve and showcase the town’s long-standing stonemasonry tradition, a craft that has left a lasting mark on the architecture and landscape, and which remains an active part of the town’s heritage. Through stone, Binissalem tells its story and its way of life.

In addition to promoting this legacy, the fair also showcases the talent and dedication of local artisans and those from across the island, who work with a variety of materials and traditional techniques. It also serves as a platform for local commerce—an opportunity for shops, bars, and restaurants to connect with visitors drawn to the festive atmosphere and cultural offerings.

During the days of the fair, Binissalem becomes a dynamic and participatory meeting point, where activity never ceases: demonstrations of traditional trades, workshops, music, gastronomy, and exhibitions fill the streets and squares. This festive and welcoming environment fosters social cohesion and strengthens the bonds between residents while also projecting the image of the town to the outside world.

Ultimately, the Fira de la Pedra i l’Artesania is a cultural affirmation and a vibrant celebration that blends tradition with modernity, memory with future.
