The Ministry has organised a series of activities aimed at recognising the fundamental role of families in the social and emotional well-being of the community.
The Ministry of Families and Social Affairs concluded its program of events marking the International Day of Families with the technical seminar titled “Strengthening Support for Families.” The seminar, held at Casa Esment in Palma, brought together professionals from the social services sector and began with an opening address by Farners Saneiro, Director General for Childhood, Youth, Families, Equality and Diversity.

Technical Seminar for Professionals Closes the Government’s Events Marking International Day of Families
The keynote speech, “Awareness and Care in Supporting Families,” was delivered by Pepa Horno. This was followed by the presentation of practical experiences from BBK Family Bizkaia, Espiral – Childhood, Youth and Family of Mallorca, and the Municipal Family Intervention Teams (EMIF) of Menorca.
A Week of Activities
Friday’s professional seminar was part of the broader program organised by the Directorate General for Childhood, Youth, Families, Equality and Diversity to celebrate the International Day of Families. The program began on May 15 with the talk “I’m a Bad Mother, So What?” by Laura Baena from Club Malas Madres, held at the Auditorium of Palma. On May 16, the activity “Seniors in the Streets” took place, featuring residents from Can Blai and Sa Serra care homes in Santa Eulària, along with their families and residents. On May 18, a festive family event was held in Sa Feixina (Palma), especially dedicated to children.
Through this diverse program, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to promoting family well-being and social cohesion, highlighting the importance of family support, intergenerational coexistence, and work-life balance.
