Councillor Estarellas presented the award today at the contest, which is part of the May Fair of the Regional Houses being held in the Parc de la Mar until tomorrow.
The regional house Hogar Canario in the Balearic Islands has won the second edition of the “Va de Tapas” contest of the Regional Houses in the Balearic Islands, jointly organized by the Government of the Balearic Islands—through the Ministry of Presidency and Public Administration—and the Federation of Regional Houses and Centers in the Balearic Islands. The winning tapa was presented under the name “Queso mojo con papas arrugás y mojopicón.”
Councillor Antònia Maria Estarellas, accompanied by the president of the Federation, Miguel Ángel Máñez, and the Director General of Institutional Relations and with the Parliament, Xesca Ramis, was in charge of presenting the award for this edition of the gastronomic contest, which is part of the 2025 May Fair of the Regional Houses in the Balearic Islands held at Parc de la Mar and concluding tomorrow, Sunday. All participating houses and centres received a diploma in recognition of their involvement.

Hogar Canario Wins the Second Edition of the “Va de Tapas”
This edition of the fair featured the participation of seven regional houses, each presenting three units of their designed tapa for the competition. The participating houses were:
- Falla del Toro – Casa de Valencia in Calvià
- Casa Regional Valenciana in Mallorca
- Casa Regional de Murcia in Mallorca
- Hogar Canario in the Balearic Islands
- Euskal Etxea Artea Mallorca
- Casa de Andalucía in the Balearic Islands
- Centro Gallego de Mallorca
The jury responsible for evaluating the entries and selecting the winning tapa consisted of Koldo Royo, chef and president of ASCAIB; José Cortés, chef at Treurer restaurant and culinary advisor; and Rodrigo Vallejo, private chef and two-time TaPalma 2017 winner. The award ceremony was hosted by Manu Blanco.
Before the award presentation, Councillor Antònia Estarellas and Director General Xesca Ramis visited the regional houses present at the fair. Councillor Estarellas congratulated all seven regional houses for their commitment to the competition and for their excellent taste in creating each tapa. She also extended special congratulations to Hogar Canario in the Balearic Islands for winning first prize.
In addition to the culinary aspect, the fair offered a varied program of cultural activities. Today, Saturday, attendees enjoyed performances by the group Xeremiers de l’Estació and Maria Bimbolles in the morning, and Agrupació de Ball Mallorquí Sa Sínia de Consell and the pop-rock group Cara B in the afternoon. For tomorrow, Sunday morning, scheduled activities include storytelling by Joan de sa Maleta, performances by Soniando. Escuela de Folklore Aragonés, and La Parranda del Hogar Canario en las Illes Balears.
