Mobile 5G coverage in Spain reaches 96% of the population and triples in rural areas
In the last year alone, rural 5G coverage increased by 11 percentage points. This rapid growth is largely due to initiatives like the UNICO 5G Active Networks program, which has invested €670 million to extend coverage in municipalities with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants.
Spain ranks among the European leaders in digital connectivity, exceeding 90% in key indicators such as fibre-optic coverage, high-capacity fixed networks, and 5G availability. In rural areas, gigabit-speed fibre now reaches 84% of households.
The report also introduces interactive coverage maps and downloadable open data, allowing users to check mobile and fixed broadband coverage at the municipal level, and identify available operators and services in specific locations.
