The Executive Council has today approved the award of the contract for the drafting of the execution project, as well as site management and coordination of health and safety for the demolition of the unfinished building structure at Cala d’en Serra, in the municipality of Sant Joan, with a total budget of €96,800 (VAT included). The drafting of the project will take twelve weeks, while the site supervision will be tied to the execution timeframe of the demolition works.
The President of the Consell Insular d’Eivissa, Vicent Marí, stated:
“We are making progress in demolishing this structure that has long harmed the natural environment of Sant Joan and the island as a whole. Its removal will help restore the environmental and landscape values of such an iconic place as Cala d’en Serra.”

The Mayor of Sant Joan, Tania Marí, emphasised:
“Thanks to coordination and loyalty between institutions, we’re taking one more step toward reclaiming this unique space in Ibiza.”
She added:
“Our commitment to the environment is proven with actions, not just words. This award for drafting the demolition project of the unfinished structure — which has been a major scar on our natural surroundings — is a concrete result of that commitment.”
The budget allocated by the Consell Insular d’Eivissa for this demolition project, developed in partnership with the Sant Joan de Labritja Town Council, is fully financed through the Sustainable Tourism Tax.
