For the First Time, Formentera Hosts Its Exams with 21 Positions Offered
Today marked the beginning of the competitive exams (oposiciones) called by the Ministry of Education and Universities for secondary school teachers, official language school teachers, music and performing arts teachers, vocational training specialists, and primary school teachers. A total of 567 positions are being offered: 263 in Mallorca, 75 in Menorca, 208 in Ibiza, and 21 in Formentera.
The Director General of Teaching Staff and State-Supported Schools, Ismael Alonso, attended the opening of the exams, which took place at the Guillem Cifre de Colonya building of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and were carried out smoothly.

880 Teachers Sit Exams Today for Non-University Teaching Positions
A total of 1,167 candidates registered for the exams, but 287 did not submit their teaching plan within the established deadline. Ultimately, 880 candidates participated, distributed as follows: 517 in Mallorca, 158 in Menorca, 193 in Ibiza, and 12 in Formentera.
In Mallorca, there are 215 positions for secondary school teachers and 48 for other teaching roles; in Menorca, 35 positions for secondary teachers and 40 for other roles. In Ibiza, 93 positions are available for secondary teachers and 115 in other specialities, of which 98 are for primary teachers. Finally, in Formentera, 8 positions are available for secondary teachers and 13 are distributed among official language school teachers, music and performing arts teachers, vocational training specialists, and primary school teachers.
The goal of the Ministry of Education is to fill as many positions as possible to ensure that students have a qualified teacher in the classroom from the first day of the school year. In fact, in the Pityusic Islands, over 100 more positions have been offered this year compared to last year’s exams.
