ABAQUA Awards Contracts for the Drafting of Four Projects to Improve Sewerage Networks in Mallorca and Eivissa

The planned investment amounts to €222,640 (VAT included), divided into four lots awarded to three specialised companies.

The Balearic Water and Environmental Quality Agency (ABAQUA), an entity under the Ministry of the Sea and the Water Cycle, has approved the awarding of service contracts for the drafting of four projects aimed at renovating and improving major sewerage networks at various locations across the archipelago. The tender, divided into four lots, has a total budget of €222,640 (VAT included) and will enable the improvement of key infrastructures in Mallorca and Ibiza.

ABAQUA Awards Contracts for the Drafting of Four Projects to Improve Sewerage Networks in Mallorca and Eivissa

The awarded projects aim to modernise strategic sections of the sewerage systems, thereby enhancing hydraulic efficiency and environmental protection.

The awarded lots are as follows:

  • Lot 1: Replacement and improvement of the main sewerage network and the land section of the effluent return pipeline in Canyamel.
    Awarded to: Vielca Ingenieros S.A. for €60,500 (VAT included).
  • Lot 2: Replacement of the main sewerage network between the EBAR Eolo and the EBAR Puerto Principal in Pollença.
    Awarded to: Soluciones Globales Gestor de Proyectos S.L. for €50,820 (VAT included).
  • Lot 3: Replacement and improvement of the main sewerage network in Colònia de Sant Jordi.
    Awarded to: Vielca Ingenieros S.A. for €60,500 (VAT included).
  • Lot 4: Replacement of the main sewerage network between the EBAR Puerto and the former wastewater treatment plant (EDAR) in Eivissa.
    Awarded to: Gradual Ingenieros S.L. for €50,820 (VAT included).

These actions are part of a broader strategy to upgrade and modernise the sewerage infrastructure across the Balearic Islands, aiming to ensure efficient, sustainable management tailored to current environmental and territorial needs. The contracts include the drafting of technical projects that will define future construction work.

The tendering process attracted a significant number of bidders and was carried out with full transparency, in accordance with the administrative and technical specifications. The awarding criteria assessed not only financial proposals but also technical quality, team experience, and the inclusion of social and environmental considerations.

This award represents an important step forward in improving the quality of sewerage services in the Balearic Islands and reaffirms the Government’s commitment to environmental protection and the development of a more efficient and resilient water management model.
