The President of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, attended today the launch of the parking monitoring system for Sóller, sa Calobra, and cala Tuent. This initiative includes 11 strategically placed information panels along the roads to inform drivers about parking availability and, if full, help them find alternative routes. This measure aims to reduce overcrowding in these popular summer destinations and promote sustainable mobility, following the recommendations from the carrying capacity study presented by the Consell de Mallorca in October.

The Consell de Mallorca Launches Parking Monitoring for Sóller, sa Calobra and cala Tuent
Galmés, accompanied by the mayors and councillors of Sóller and Escorca, as well as the Minister for Territory, Mobility and Infrastructures, Fernando Rubio, and the Island Director of Mobility, Rafel Oliver, officially launched the monitoring system. Drivers will be able to check in advance via the panels whether parking is available in Sóller, Escorca, or Cala Tuent, or if it is full and advisable to take an alternative route. The monitoring system will be managed from the control room of the Sóller tunnel. This is a pilot initiative, to expand it to other locations in future seasons.
“Today we are launching the parking monitoring system,” explained President Llorenç Galmés, “a recommendation from the carrying capacity study with the main goal of providing a solution for three areas that suffer from severe vehicle congestion in the summer, where parking lots are often overwhelmed. These 11 information panels will help prevent traffic build-up when the parking areas in Sóller, cala Tuent and sa Calobra are full, giving drivers the option to reroute. This also supports more sustainable mobility by reducing bottlenecks in these areas.”
LOCATIONS OF THE INFORMATION PANELS
There will be two panels providing parking information on the Vía de Cintura. One will be located near Aragó Street heading towards Andratx, and the other near the Son Rapinya exit. Both will inform drivers heading to Sóller and the Inca motorway.
At the entrances to Inca—from both Palma and Alcúdia—additional panels will inform drivers about the parking status in sa Calobra and cala Tuent.
On the Sóller road, a mobile panel will be installed at the Palmanyola roundabout and another at the tunnel entrance to indicate whether the parking in Sóller is full, giving drivers the chance to turn back and avoid delays.
There will be two more panels in Sóller: one at the entrance from the Deià road and another on the Puig Major road.
On the MA-10 road crossing the Serra de Tramuntana, panels will be placed at the exit from Pollença towards Lluc and on the sa Calobra road. Finally, another panel will be located in Caimari, providing updates on parking availability in cala Tuent and sa Calobra.
