The Consell de Mallorca’s Emergency Services deployed 60 volunteer personnel to the affected area.
The Mallorca Firefighters have received a silver siurell from the organisation Grup Güell in recognition of their assistance during emergency and relief efforts following the DANA (severe storm) in Valencia. Grup Güell wished to acknowledge the exemplary work of the Consell de Mallorca’s Emergency Services with a heartfelt tribute held at Mallorca’s stadium, where the silver siurell was presented as a symbol of gratitude.
The event took place at 11 a.m. and gathered representatives from Grup Güell, authorities, and members of the fire brigade who actively participated in the aid efforts during the DANA that struck Valencia in October. The President of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, took part in the event and personally thanked the Mallorca Firefighters for their commitment, compassion, and excellent work during the worst natural disaster in Spain in recent years. The storm resulted in 236 deaths, thousands of evacuations, over 11,000 homes affected, hundreds of thousands of damaged vehicles, and billions of euros in losses.

Mallorca Firefighters Receive a Silver Siurell from Grup Güell in Tribute to Their Support During the Valencia DANA
In total, 60 firefighters from Mallorca were deployed to the affected area, where they worked intensively for three weeks, participating in rescue operations, assisting those affected, and making efforts to restore the region. Their efforts were especially focused on the towns of Catarroja, Sedaví, Alfafar, Benetússer, and Paiporta, which suffered the most severe flood damage.
With this recognition, Grup Güell seeks to honour the dedication, courage, and public service spirit of the Mallorca Firefighters, who have once again proven to be an example of professionalism and commitment.
“The silver siurell symbolizes the voice of the people and the strength of Mallorcan tradition. Through this gesture, we wish to express our deep gratitude to the Mallorca Firefighters, who were there where they were needed the most,” stated Grup Güell.
