The Balearic Islands Health Service Receives the Latido Award for Innovation in Digital Health for Its Data Transformation Project
Led by the Subdirectorate for Data Management and Governance, the project has driven a technological and organisational transformation to enhance decision-making at all levels through the efficient and shared use of healthcare data.
One of the project’s key pillars has been the creation of a unified analytics platform that integrates clinical, hospital, primary care, emergency (061), and financial data into a common environment. This platform ensures interoperability, data quality, and the autonomy of each regional management unit. The new model enables the identification of trends, the anticipation of needs, resource optimisation, and the more accurate evaluation of public policies.
In addition, the Health Service has centralised its analytics viewer using Power BI, which is accessible via the corporate Kairos platform. This tool provides clinicians, managers, and planners with direct access to key indicators, dashboards, and strategic analyses, promoting transparency and equity in information access.
Another major achievement of the project has been the harmonisation, standardisation, and normalisation of data across different management units, allowing the entire system to operate on a coherent, unified, and traceable model.
Receiving the Latido Award validates the Health Service’s strong commitment to digital transformation as a means to reinforce the system’s sustainability and place data at the core of planning and continuous improvement. The initiative marks a turning point toward new developments in artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, and the integration of social and environmental factors, always with a person-centred approach.
