The Consell de Mallorca Allocates a Record Investment of €9.2 Million to Felanitx

President Galmés and Councillor Amate held a meeting with representatives of the DO Pla i Llevant Regulatory Council and visited the Es Fangar Vins winery located in the town.

The Consell de Mallorca has granted the municipality of Felanitx a total of €9.2 million, distributed across various allocations for investments and public works in the locality during the current legislative term. This was announced by the President of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, and the Councillor for Economic Promotion and Local Development, Pilar Amate, during a meeting held at Felanitx Town Hall with Mayor Catalina Soler and other members of the municipal council to discuss local government matters.

This meeting is part of a series of visits by President Galmés and Councillor Amate to all 53 municipalities in Mallorca to explain the various grants and subsidies offered by the Consell to local councils. In Felanitx’s case, this amounts to nearly €2 million, fulfilling the island council’s commitment to strengthening municipal governance.

The Consell de Mallorca Allocates a Record Investment of €9.2 Million to Felanitx

Specifically, the Department of Economic Promotion and Local Development has allocated Felanitx €106,400 under the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (PAESC), and a total of €520,000 from the Public Works and Services Plan (POS) for 2024–2025.

The municipality also received €563,266 from the Water Cycle Agreement for 2024. In addition, €21,019 was allocated through the grant call for municipalities to meet obligations under the Animal Rights and Welfare Protection Law; €7,736 for the repair and improvement of municipal roads; and €192,307 to mitigate the effects of storm Juliette.

Additional funds include €318,216 in grants for sports facilities and another €122,401 for outdoor sports investments (a playground for children aged 6–12). In the area of tourism, €3,540 was earmarked for OMIT improvements, as well as another €61,729 related to Culture and Heritage.

Furthermore, the Department of Roads and Territory allocated a total of €6.6 million: €3.8 million for the Manacor–Felanitx road (inaugurated in 2024) and another €2.8 million for the construction of access roads to the future hospital of Felanitx and the redevelopment of the entrance to the town of Campos. An initial investment of €600,000 has also been allocated for maintenance, cleaning, and safety works as part of the Es Sindicat recovery project (the former cooperative winery of Felanitx).

In addition to the funds received by the municipality, Felanitx has benefited from various subsidies aimed specifically at promoting local products and commerce, totaling €47,650. Of this amount, €40,000 was granted for the 2024 Fira del Pebre Bord project, and €7,650 was awarded for a research project on local product commercialization.

Meeting with DO Pla i Llevant and Visit to Es Fangar Winery

Later, as part of the institutional visit to Felanitx, President Galmés and Councillor Amate met with the president of the DO Pla i Llevant, Francisca Armeno, and visited the Es Fangar Vins winery, representing the 12 cellars and 85 winemakers that are part of this Protected Designation of Origin Regulatory Council. Also present were the Island Director of Economic Promotion, Mallorca Product and Commerce, Álvaro Roca, and the winemaker Eugenio Lira.

Galmés and Amate used the opportunity to show the Consell’s support for Mallorca’s wine sector, “a product that is highly representative of our land, culture, and tradition, and closely linked to Mallorcan gastronomy,” said the President.

DO Pla i Llevant has a total vineyard area of 513 hectares, producing 11,366 hectolitres of wine. It is one of the non-profit organizations that has benefited from the Consell de Mallorca’s subsidies for the promotion and dissemination of local products, with a project entitled “Origin and Experiences,” for a total amount of €11,700.
