People aged 65 and over can attend the cinema every Tuesday for a reduced price of €2 at participating venues supported by the Ministry of Culture.
Starting June 24, the third edition of ‘Cine Sénior’ will begin. Through this program, people aged 65 and over can go to the cinema every Tuesday for just €2, at any of the 397 participating cinema venues across Spain that have joined this initiative launched by the Ministry of Culture. Altogether, these cinemas offer more than 2,900 screening rooms distributed throughout the country. As in previous editions, tickets can be purchased either at the box office or online.
A key new feature of this edition is that the program will now run throughout the entire year, until June 2026, as opposed to the nine months of the previous edition.

The Third Edition of the ‘Cine Sénior’ Program Launches on June 24 with 397 Participating Cinemas Across Spain
The continuation of the program is a result of the positive results from prior editions, as well as the Ministry of Culture’s commitment to support exhibition venues—a vital link in the film industry chain and a gateway to cultural diversity. At the same time, Cine Sénior aims to protect and uphold the rights of older adults to participate in social and cultural life, which is essential for an active and healthy lifestyle.
The maximum funding allocated for this initiative in 2025 amounts to €8.5 million. Of the €8.15 million specifically allocated for aid distribution, up to €7.25 million will go toward grants for eligible individuals, while up to €900,000 will be reserved to cover potential increases in demand exceeding initial projections.
A Successful Program
Cine Sénior has received very positive feedback in its first two editions. According to data from the Federation of Cinemas of Spain (FECE), during the second edition, which ran from May to December 2024, a total of 1,689,115 senior spectators attended cinemas—764,391 more than in the 2023 edition—representing an 83% increase in participation.
