The president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, and the president of Grup Güell, Francisco Bauzá, have presented the official T-shirt for the 51st edition of the “Marxa a Lluc a peu”, which receives institutional support through the distribution of 7,000 T-shirts — 2,000 more than last year — and reusable bottles for participants.
The island institution has allocated a €70,000 grant to Grup Güell to support both the march and the traditional senior gatherings at the Sanctuary of Lluc.

The Consell de Mallorca Reaffirms Its Commitment to the Iconic “Marxa des Güell a Lluc a Peu”
The event took place today and included the presence of the Conseller of the Presidency, Antoni Fuster. Once again, the Consell de Mallorca shows its support for this deeply rooted summer event with a financial contribution that allows for the distribution of 7,000 fluorescent yellow T-shirts, aimed at improving visibility and safety for walkers during the nighttime journey, as well as reusable bottles.
In addition to supporting the march, the €70,000 grant will help fund the traditional senior gatherings at the Lluc Sanctuary — both events contribute to strengthening the social and cultural fabric of the island.
President Llorenç Galmés highlighted that:
“The Marxa a Lluc a peu is a true symbol of Mallorcan identity and holds immeasurable cultural value. That is why the Consell de Mallorca is committed to supporting its organization year after year.”
He also emphasised:
“The fact that this year marks the 51st edition proves that this is a well-established tradition that combines culture, devotion, and sport. I encourage all Mallorcans — especially the younger generations — to take part once again to ensure the success of this great event.”
The 51st edition of the march will take place during the night of August 2 to 3, and will be dedicated to the volunteers who gave their all during the DANA (an intense Mediterranean weather event), as a token of gratitude for their dedication and generosity in times of great hardship.
The walk will begin at 11:00 p.m. on August 2 in Palma, with staggered departures from Marratxí, Santa Maria, Consell, Binissalem, Lloseta, Selva, and Inca, before arriving at the Sanctuary of Lluc — keeping alive a tradition that, for over half a century, has mobilised thousands of people from across Mallorca.
