The president of the Consell d’Eivissa, Vicent Marí, and the councillor for Economic and Business Promotion and Municipal Cooperation, Maria Fajarnés, awarded official certificates today to 52 students who completed training in dressmaking and pattern-making between November 2024 and May 2025, at either the beginner, advanced I, advanced II or advanced III levels.

These courses are part of the Consell’s efforts to promote local craftsmanship, led by the Department of Economic and Business Promotion, and aim to strengthen the fashion industry in Ibiza while providing continuous training to improve professional skills in tailoring and sewing.

The training sessions were held in the workshop classroom of the Ibiza School of Arts, led by renowned professionals in Ibiza’s fashion scene such as Tony Bonet, Monika Maxim, and Antònia Riera (Ibimoda).

During the certificate ceremony, President Vicent Marí congratulated the participants and highlighted “the effort, dedication, and passion shown by these students, who through their training contribute to preserving and promoting the value of Ibiza’s fashion and craftsmanship—a living heritage that is part of our identity.”

Councillor Maria Fajarnés also emphasised the strong participation in these free courses, which have become a key tool for encouraging continuous learning in dressmaking and pattern-making. “This is an opportunity for anyone who wishes to begin or improve their skills in this field, thereby enhancing their professional qualifications and facilitating access to official artisan certifications,” Fajarnés stated.

She also announced that, starting in the 2025–2026 academic year, Ibiza will offer a new Intermediate Vocational Degree in Fashion and Dressmaking, to be taught at the Ibiza School of Art—an important step in expanding educational opportunities aligned with the needs of the island’s textile and fashion industries.
