Llorenç Galmés, accompanied by the Mayor of Santanyí and members of the municipal council, emphasised “the importance of this deeply rooted celebration for all coastal towns on the island—a true reflection of our connection to the sea.”

The President of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, attended this afternoon’s events in honour of Our Lady of Mount Carmel held in Cala Figuera. The celebration began at 6:00 p.m. with a solemn mass at the coastal village church, in honour of the patron saint of sailors. After the mass, the image of the Virgin was carried in a procession to the Cala Figuera dock, accompanied by the Santanyí Municipal Band.

From there, the Virgin’s image was placed on board a boat for the traditional maritime procession—a particularly emotional moment during which decorated vessels accompanied the statue around the harbour. This act of devotion and respect for the sea and those who work on it concluded with a floral offering.

President Galmés was joined by Maria Pons, Mayor of Santanyí, as well as by other local council members. He highlighted “the significance of this celebration for all towns with a seafaring tradition on the island—a festivity so deeply ours that it serves as a living testimony of our bond with the sea.”
