The Balearic Culture Interpretation Centre progresses as a heritage, tourism, and educational reference point in the city of San Pedro
The Government of the Balearic Islands, in collaboration with the Mallorca Association of San Pedro, has inaugurated the second phase of the San Pedro Mill project (Argentina), considered the capital of Mallorcan heritage abroad. The mill, built in traditional Mallorcan style with its characteristic blades, is part of the Balearic Park “Sgt. 1st Class Mateo A. The Balearic Culture Interpretation Centre aims to promote the culture of the islands through its use of museographic and audiovisual resources. The project aims to create a dynamic and participatory space where visitors can learn about the history, traditions, and legacy of Balearic immigrants in Argentina. The space will also serve as a tourist information centre, connected to the local Department of Tourism and Culture’s circuits.
The architectural and cultural proposal has been developed in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on quality education, clean energy, and the promotion of sustainable communities. The mill is equipped with a wash area and a solar panel for lighting, aiming to spark interest in heritage and renewable energy among visitors.
With this initiative, the Government of the Balearic Islands reaffirms its commitment to preserving and promoting Balearic culture abroad, strengthening ties with the diaspora and highlighting the historical and ongoing contribution of the Balearic community in Argentina.
