The works, which began on June 25, include the construction of three new tennis courts with a total area of 5,084.90 m², of which 1,512 m² correspond to the direct intervention zone, including playing areas and related service facilities. The project also features spectator stands, new changing rooms, and auxiliary spaces for local sports clubs and maintenance staff.

The total investment amounts to €1,120,079.04, mostly funded through a €1.33 million allocation from the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS), granted in February as part of a broader €67 million package for strategic projects on the island of Ibiza.

This initiative is part of the city’s municipal plan “Ibiza, City of Sport”, which aims to upgrade and expand the city’s sports infrastructure by offering modern, accessible, and sustainable facilities for sports practice.

The new courts will replace the current ones located next to Parque de la Paz, which will be demolished to make way for the future Mercat Nou (New Market), integrating urban development with improved public amenities.

During the visit, Minister Bauzà emphasised “the importance of reinvesting ITS funds into projects that add value for residents, enhance quality of life, and promote physical activity in top-tier facilities.”
