Antònia Roca: “We want culture to reach the heart of our heritage and for everyone to experience it in unique spaces while rediscovering our history.”
The Consell de Mallorca is once again launching this summer the “Cultura en vena” program, a cultural initiative that was first introduced last year with great success. This year, the program expands with an important new feature: a new cycle of heritage concerts at archaeological sites across Mallorca.
The Vice President of the Consell de Mallorca and Minister of Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca, presented this new edition of the program today, accompanied by the Island Director of Heritage, Maria Isabel Arnau. Roca highlighted that “Cultura en vena” offers, over the course of two months, a wide range of cultural and artistic activities aimed at bringing culture to every corner of the island and all audiences.

The Consell de Mallorca Launches a New Cycle of Heritage Concerts
The program includes four major activity cycles: Misericòrdia Petit, with children’s activities at the Centre Cultural La Misericòrdia; storytelling sessions in the bibliojardí (garden library), also for children; Dissabtes a La Misericòrdia, featuring concerts and stand‑up performances for adults; La Lluna en Vers, with concerts held across the island’s rural areas; and this year’s new addition, the heritage concerts.
“This 2025, we are relaunching Cultura en vena because we believe in a living, open, and decentralised culture. And we are doing so with a very special addition: concerts in unique settings such as archaeological sites, allowing our heritage to become a protagonist of the cultural experience,” said Antònia Roca.
Concerts at Archaeological Sites: Culture and Heritage for All
The heritage concerts are the main new feature this year and will take place at five archaeological sites of great historical and scenic value across Mallorca. The initiative aims to bring the public closer to major sites such as Closos de Can Gaià (Felanitx), Sa Morisca (Calvià), Son Real (Santa Margalida), S’Illot (Sant Llorenç), and Son Fornés (Montuïri).
The concerts will always begin at 8:00 p.m., and admission is free.
- August 10 – Closos de Can Gaià (Felanitx): Raquel Cabello, violin duo concert
- August 24 – Sa Morisca (Calvià): Paula Martos, cello and violin concert
- August 24 – Son Real (Santa Margalida): Maria de Lluc, piano trio concert
- August 24 – S’Illot (Sant Llorenç): Miguel Lio, piano and soprano concert

New Grant Line to Protect and Acquire Archaeological Sites
The Vice President of the Consell de Mallorca and Minister of Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca, also announced today the opening of a new public call for grants to acquire land with archaeological sites in Mallorca, with a total budget of €300,000, aimed at the island’s municipalities.
The objective, she explained, is to promote and ensure the conservation, research, restoration, and public dissemination of Mallorca’s archaeological sites, as well as to encourage access through visits and enhance the local cultural offering.
The grants will be distributed based on the number of inhabitants in each municipality, with subsidy rates reaching up to 100% for smaller towns. In any case, the maximum amount per project will be €80,000.
Eligible acquisitions must have been carried out between January 1, 2025, and October 15, 2026.
The application deadline, Roca informed, is 20 business days from the day after the official publication in the BOIB (Balearic Islands Official Bulletin), which was on July 26. Applications are processed through the Consell de Mallorca’s Electronic Office.
