Palma de Mallorca, August 3, 2025 – The Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest wrapped up its 15th edition with a gala that blended excitement, live music, and cinema under the Mallorcan night sky. And while the awards took centre stage, Queen Letizia stole the show with her presence, elegance, and a heartfelt tribute to Spanish cinema.

A Cinematic Finale

The closing night, held in the courtyard of La Misericòrdia Cultural Centre, brought together filmmakers, actors, and film enthusiasts in an atmosphere that confirmed why Atlàntida has become one of the most vibrant summer festivals in Spain. Guitarist Yerai Cortés opened the evening with an intimate performance that set the tone even before the awards were handed out.

Queen Letizia, radiant and relaxed, took the stage to present the Master of Cinema Award to composer Alberto Iglesias, celebrated for his iconic soundtracks for directors such as Pedro Almodóvar and Julio Medem. Visibly moved, Iglesias thanked the festival and Mallorca for “honouring the soul of cinema: music.”

Awards with Global Flavor

The ceremony crowned Jone, Batzuetan by Sara Fantova as Best National Film and El silencio de Julie by Leonardo Van Dijil as Best International Film. The Audience Award went to the bold The Designer is Dead by Gonzalo Hergueta, while critics chose Eat the Night by Caroline Poggi and Jonathan Vinel.

To close the evening, the audience enjoyed the premiere of “El canto de las manos”, the directorial debut of María Valverde, telling the moving story of deaf Venezuelan interpreters performing Beethoven under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel.

A Royal Summer Look

Queen Letizia opted for a white midi dress with an asymmetrical detail, paired with golden sandals and a clutch, complemented by 24-karat gold jewellery from the Suma Cruz “Índico” collection. The Mediterranean-inspired outfit sparked buzz on social media throughout the night, proving that even in a film festival, royal style gets its round of applause.

A Festival on the Rise

With more than 45,000 attendees and a hybrid program combining in-person screenings in Palma and online content, the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest confirms its status as a key player in the European film circuit. Between premieres, tributes, and public events, the festival has secured its place as a must-see cultural highlight of the Mallorcan summer.
