The European Commission has transferred more than €23 billion to Spain as part of the fifth disbursement of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, comprising €7.1 billion in grants and €16 billion in loans.
This payment — the largest ever made to an EU Member State under the Recovery and Resilience Facility — acknowledges the achievement of 69 milestones and targets in areas such as education, justice, green transition, renewable energy, social housing, and SME digitalisation.

Spain Receives Over €23 Billion from Fifth Recovery Plan Payment
With this disbursement, Spain has now received over €55 billion in grants, making it the EU country with the highest volume of non-repayable funds. The amount equals around 1.5% of GDP, providing a direct boost to growth, employment, and the structural modernisation of the economy.
