The Hospital of Manacor has launched the Morning Project, an innovative initiative framed within the hospital’s commitment to innovation and excellence in healthcare. Its main goal is to centralise and optimise the daily management of hospital beds to address the growing demand from the Emergency Department and the need for available beds in inpatient units. This improvement action is part of L-HMAN, the Hospital of Manacor’s Lean project, which seeks to make care, management, and processes more efficient.
The project is based on the implementation of a multidisciplinary morning meeting and the use of a shared dashboard to promote proactive, collaborative, and people-centred management. This approach allows the anticipation of admission needs, the planning of patient discharges, and the better coordination of scheduled surgical procedures.

The Morning Project improves hospital management with a new strategy to optimise inpatient beds
With this new methodology, healthcare teams can make more informed and coordinated decisions, improving both patient experience and system efficiency. Specifically, the project addresses: forecasting hospital discharges and anticipating admissions, reducing patient waiting times in the Emergency Department, minimising the cancellation of scheduled surgeries, and enhancing communication among care units.
According to the project’s leaders, the Morning Project represents a step forward towards more efficient, human, and patient-centred hospital management, improving forecasting and coordination while providing faster, higher-quality care. It also advances towards a smarter model of hospital management, where every bed counts and every decision is made with the patient’s well-being in mind.
Indeed, this innovative initiative, launched just a few months ago, is already showing positive results by reducing critical bed occupancy, relieving pressure on the Emergency Department, and improving satisfaction levels among both patients and healthcare professionals.
