The exhibition is organised by the Cultural Exchange Association of Mallorca and Balearic Islands (UNESCO member), the Binissalem City Council, and the media outlet thursdaydailybulletin.es. The show will remain open until September 30, 2025 and will involve seven local wellness centres that will host the works, sharing their perspectives on health, harmony, and body–mind balance.

To mark the opening, we spoke with Úrsula Cabrer Estrany about her project and her way of understanding photography.

Q: Úrsula Cabrer Estrany, your photographic project is presented under the name Lente de Ursu. How did this initiative begin?

A: Lente de Ursu was born very naturally. For years, I worked in the health sector, which allowed me to understand first-hand the needs of our elders. Photography has always been my passion, and I discovered it could be a tool to give voice to those experiences. What is not told is forgotten, and I wanted those lives full of stories to remain alive. Through my lens, I try to capture emotions, unique moments, and the essence of people. This project can also be followed on my Instagram account, where I share part of my work with others who feel the same passion for images.

Q: The Binissalem exhibition carries the theme “Healthy Living.” How do you bring this concept into your work?

A: For me, healthy living means balance between physical, mental, and emotional aspects. In the exhibition, I wanted to present three lines of work that define me:

  1. Photographs portraying the lives of our elders in nursing homes — intimate and real scenes showing both fragility and resilience.
  2. Underwater photography from my passion for scuba diving — a fascinating world of serenity, beauty, and respect for nature.
  3. Equestrian photography — symbolising nobility, freedom, and the connection between humans and their environment.

Together, these pieces share one message: taking care of ourselves, others, and the environment is essential for a healthy and fulfilling life.

Q: What does it mean to you to participate in World Photography Day 2025 in your homeland?

A: It is an immense joy. Showing my work in Binissalem, alongside other artists and communities, fills me with enthusiasm. This exhibition is not just a showcase of images but also a cultural dialogue where experiences and sensibilities are shared. I am grateful to the Cultural Exchange Association, the City Council, and everyone who made this initiative possible.

Q: How do you connect your background in health care with your passion for photography?

A: Úrsula Cabrer Estrany. Both are deeply related. Working in health care taught me to listen, observe, and empathise. Photography is exactly that: observing and capturing the essence. When I photograph our elders, I am not just taking a picture — I am recognising their value, history, and dignity. That sensitivity is transmitted through the images and often moves viewers emotionally.

Q: You also mentioned your love for scuba diving and the equestrian world. How do these passions appear in your work?

A: Scuba diving has taught me patience and to appreciate beauty in what often goes unnoticed. Each dive is a life lesson: silence, wonder, and respect. With my underwater camera, I try to capture that hidden universe we all share and must protect.

As for horses, I am fascinated by the bond between humans and these noble animals. In my equestrian photography, I seek to reflect not only their strength and elegance but also the mutual respect and complicity in that relationship. Úrsula Cabrer Estrany 2025

Q: Why do you think photography can contribute to the concept of Healthy Living?

A:Úrsula Cabrer Estrany 2025. Photography makes us aware. It forces us to pause, to truly look, and to value what we have. When we see an image that moves us, it inspires reflection about our own life, priorities, and well-being. In this sense, photography is a powerful tool to promote holistic health.

Q: What would you like the public to take away from your participation in this exhibition?

A: I hope visitors feel inspired to take better care of themselves and others. Health is not just the absence of illness; it is a balance between body, mind, and spirit. If any of my images spark an emotion, a memory, or a reflection, I will consider my goal accomplished.
