The Honours and Distinctions Awards of the Consell de Mallorca aim to recognise the work carried out by individuals and organisations for the benefit of Mallorca and its citizens.
Each year, the awardees are chosen through a participatory process in which candidacies are presented. The decision on the winners is taken by consensus of the political groups in the Board of Spokespersons.

Awardees 2025
Medal of Honour and Gratitude of the Island of Mallorca
- Dr. Joan Carulla – On the occasion of his retirement, for his key role in the expansion and improvement of social and healthcare services in Mallorca as managing director of the Sant Joan de Déu hospitals in Palma and Inca. With a career marked by efficient management and commitment to people, he has been instrumental in modernising local healthcare.
- Little Sisters of the Poor – For their work supporting elderly people in vulnerable situations. For decades, the congregation has represented a model of solidarity, empathy, and selfless service, offering shelter, care, and dignity to many older people without resources in Mallorca.
- Garden Hotels – For their pioneering commitment to sustainability and the circular economy in tourism, such as their zero-plastic project. A Mallorcan family business with an international presence, they have consolidated a responsible hotel model committed to the territory, local products, and training new generations in environmental values.
- Associació d’Amics del Ferrocarril de les Illes Balears (AAFIB) – For their exemplary work in preserving the railway heritage of the Balearic Islands since 1989. Over 35 years, they have restored historic material, organised educational activities, and promoted knowledge of this key sector.
- Women agricultural workers of Sa Pobla (Dones marjaleres) – For their historic contribution to the economy and society of the municipality. These women have been the invisible protagonists of agricultural development, combining work in the fields with caring for home and family. They are a symbol of resilience and popular effort.
- Francesc Pomar (1942–2025) – Founder of Pastisseries Pomar, for his exemplary career as a pastry chef and entrepreneur. He successfully combined tradition, innovation, and Mallorcan identity in a business that remains a benchmark for quality gastronomy. This award is also a tribute to local commerce and passion for artisanal products.
- Toni Frontera – For his outstanding career in the world of trotting races in Mallorca. He has achieved seven victories in the Gran Premi Nacional, a historic record in this sport. He is a reference in the sector and in Mallorcan popular sport, rooted in tradition and the rural world.
- Joan Company Florit – For his career of more than 45 years as founder and director of the University of the Balearic Islands Choir. He has promoted Mallorcan choral music worldwide and driven research and dissemination of the islands’ musical heritage as director of the Partituroteca and the UIB’s Music Documentation Centre. He is also the chapel master of the Cathedral of Mallorca.
- Pau Cladera Marroig – For his outstanding career as a young composer, pianist, and orchestra conductor committed to Mallorca’s culture. At just 18 years old, he has created works such as La croada al Regne sobre el mar and Reminiscències rurals, combining classical music with the island’s historical and popular heritage. He is an example of emerging talent from our land.
- Licors Moyà – For their legacy in producing traditional liqueurs since the 19th century in Artà. With products such as Anís Estrella de Artà, Herbes Moyà, and Palo Moyà, the company represents the continuity of a family trade. Managed by six generations, they have preserved artisanal quality.
- Cafés Bay – For their career as a Mallorcan company dedicated to coffee roasting and distribution since 1952. Founded as Cafés Bahía and now based in Lloret de Vistalegre, they have combined artisanal tradition with innovation. With the launch of the Arabay brand, they have become a benchmark in the speciality coffee sector, with national presence and a strong commitment to sustainability.
- Francesc Antich (1958–2025) – For his dedication to public service as president of the Government of the Balearic Islands. A lawyer and politician, he stood out for his capacity for dialogue and his determination to strengthen Mallorca’s institutions. He was also executive councilor for Environment and Territorial Planning at the Consell de Mallorca (1995–1999).
- Jeroni Albertí i Picornell (1927–2024) – For his decisive contribution during the democratic transition in the Balearic Islands. He was the first president of the Consell General Interinsular (1978–1982) and of the Consell de Mallorca, as well as president of the Parliament of the Balearic Islands.
Jaume II Awards
- Forn des Pla de na Tesa – For their 125th anniversary as an emblematic bakery and pastry shop. With three generations of artisan masters, they represent the essence of locally made products crafted with care and effort, serving as a reference point in Mallorca’s gastronomic culture.
- Sports for Equality Association – For their work promoting equality and social inclusion through sports. With their Sneakers for Equality project, they provide sports shoes to children and young people at risk of exclusion. The organisation works to break down barriers and foster values such as respect, coexistence, and fairness.
- Alfabia Gardens – For their importance as a historic garden in Mallorca, linked to the Serra de Tramuntana. With more than 800 years of history, they preserve Islamic, Gothic, and Baroque architectural elements. Family management has kept this natural, cultural, and tourist space alive.
- Mountain Rescue Group of the Consell de Mallorca – On the occasion of their 25th anniversary, for their exemplary service in rescue operations and emergencies in hard-to-access areas. Composed of highly qualified professionals, they play a crucial role in ensuring safety in natural areas and protecting human life on the island.
- Álex Sánchez Palomero – For his elite sports career and his commitment to Mallorca since 2007, where he has developed much of his career. He is a two-time world runner-up and two-time European champion in paratriathlon, world champion in aquathlon, and bronze medalist at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games (swimming) and Tokyo 2020 (triathlon). Through his sporting and personal journey, he conveys values such as perseverance, effort, and resilience.
- Siloé Association – For 30 years of work providing shelter, care, and support to people with HIV in vulnerable situations. The entity was a pioneer in Mallorca in offering comprehensive and residential care, promoting dignity, equality, and quality of life for an often-forgotten group.
- Embat Llibres – For their 50th anniversary as a landmark bookstore in Palma. Since 1975, it has been a literary meeting space, promoting reading and supporting culture. It remains a living cultural hub of the island.
- Friends of San Carlos Castle Association – For their work in preserving and revitalising the castle as a military museum and cultural venue. The organisation has turned this historic site in Palma into a civic meeting point and a space for historical dissemination.
- Madò Pereta – For her career as an icon of humour and Mallorcan popular culture. For more than twenty years, this character has been recognised across the island, bringing satire and identity to local stages.
Adoptive Son of the Island of Mallorca
- Luis Maraver – For his outstanding career as a visual artist based in Mallorca since 1972. A resident of Binissalem, he has developed a unique body of work marked by material, travel, and contemplation of the world. He has also collaborated in solidarity initiatives such as Llevant en Marxa, linking art and social commitment from Mallorca to the world.
Distinguished Son of the Island of Mallorca
- Joan Llull – Founder of Hipotels Hotels & Resorts, for a pioneering career leading tourism development in eastern Mallorca. At 90 years old, he was recognised at FITUR 2024 for his business vision based on quality, rootedness, and stability. His work has generated employment and prestige for the island.
- Lluís Alemany Pujol (1880–1960) – For his contribution to Mallorca’s political and social development. A law graduate, he was mayor of Palma, promoting emblematic projects such as the Passeig de Sagrera. Later, as president of the Provincial Council of the Balearic Islands, he led infrastructure improvements across the island. He also played an active role in the Palma Bar Association.
