This year, the event adds a new race on 21 September —the Premi Diada de Mallorca— to further strengthen the link between this deeply rooted sport and the celebration of the Diada.
Julieta SP claimed victory in the Gran Premi Diada de Mallorca, held on Friday at the Son Pardo racetrack, in a day filled with sporting excitement and the symbolic celebration of the Diada through one of the island’s most traditional sports: trotting.
The race attracted strong participation, with Julieta SP, driven by J. A. Riera, taking the win and receiving the trophy and winner’s blanket from the President of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés. The podium was completed by Infinit D’Escàndol, driven by M. Mestre, and Flamenc De Font, driven by C. Riera M.

Julieta SP Triumphs in the Gran Premi Diada de Mallorca on a Festive and Emblematic Day for Mallorcan Trotting
The event was also attended by the Second Vice President and Minister of Environment, Rural Affairs and Sports, Pedro Bestard, the President of the Institut d’Esports Hípic de Mallorca, Gaspar Oliver, and the President of the Balearic Trotting Federation, Juan Antonio Rosselló.
President Galmés underlined the significance of the occasion:
“Today, 12 September, we celebrate our Diada, a day of great meaning for all Mallorcans, and we also celebrate it through one of our most cherished and deep-rooted sports: trotting. The Gran Premi Diada de Mallorca is not just a sporting competition, but a symbolic event that represents the union of tradition, culture and identity.”
He went on to thank all participants:
“The Consell de Mallorca wishes to acknowledge the effort of everyone involved, the commitment of the Institut de l’Esport Hípic and the Balearic Trotting Federation, and above all, the loyalty of the fans, who turn each race into a celebration. Our commitment is to continue supporting trotting, as it forms part of our heritage and projects the pride of being Mallorcan into the future.”
For his part, Vice President Pedro Bestard congratulated all participants and stressed the importance of the event:
“The Gran Premi Diada de Mallorca is especially meaningful as it coincides with such a significant date for all Mallorcans, making this competition particularly moving for all of us,” he said.
The celebration on 12 September was accompanied by the music of the xeremiers, who performed La Balanguera, and a ball de bot folk dance performance, adding a festive and traditional touch to the event.
