A new session of the fifth edition of the educational program “Inclusive Sport at School” was held, featuring Paralympic goalball athlete Raquel Rico Pesquera.

The activity took place with students from Lycée International Ibiza, where Raquel Rico —born in Segovia and a top-level Paralympic athlete in swimming, athletics, and goalball since the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games— shared her athletic and personal journey with 49 students aged 12 and 13.

The session began with a classroom talk in which the athlete recounted her story of perseverance and answered students’ questions in an engaging and inspiring atmosphere. Afterwards, the practical part took place at the Teo Blázquez Municipal Sports Centre in Can Burgos, where the students had the opportunity to try various inclusive sports such as blind football, sitting volleyball, goalball, and adapted athletics for athletes with physical or visual disabilities.

The activities were led by DIE program instructors, the school’s physical education teachers, the Sports Coordinator of the Consell of Ibiza, Antoni Suñer, and Raquel Rico herself, who conducted the goalball workshop.

This awareness and learning session through inclusive sport is part of a program promoted by the Sports Department of the Consell Insular d’Eivissa and the Sanitas Foundation Chair for Inclusive Sport Studies (CEDI), in collaboration with the Spanish Paralympic Committee and the También Foundation.

A total of 49 students actively participated in this session, which promotes values such as cooperation, respect, and equal opportunities through shared and inclusive sports practice.
