In an urgent and extraordinary session, the island’s executive body has approved the regulatory guidelines for financial aid aimed at individuals and businesses affected by damage caused by the DANA weather event and former hurricane Gabrielle. The document, agreed upon with local councils, PIMEEF and the Chamber of Commerce, represents a key step toward activating the financial support committed to those affected.

The guidelines have been drafted as a priority to respond to the range of incidents recorded, particularly in homes, commercial premises and vehicles. The maximum amounts set are €2,500 per damaged home, up to €2,000 per vehicle and up to €10,000 per business.

This aid programme has a budget of €5 million, provided through an agreement signed this week between the island’s administration and the Government of the Balearic Islands, to offer immediate coverage for the damages caused by the meteorological episode.

The island authority has announced that the full guidelines will be published next week in the BOIB, a necessary step before the official opening of the application period. Once the notice is published, affected individuals and businesses will be able to begin the procedure to request aid.

The institution has reiterated its commitment to speeding up the entire process so that those affected can receive financial support as quickly as possible.
