Application period opens for the 2025 rental assistance programme

Given the current rental situation in the Balearic Islands, several requests have been made to the Ministry to increase the maximum eligible rent so that more households can benefit.

The budget allocated for 2025 amounts to €9.3 million, with €7.1 million coming from state funds and €2.2 million from regional resources.

Income limits

The programme covers up to 50% of rent payments up to €900 per month, with a maximum of €3,000 per year per household.
Income for the household unit must not exceed €25,200 per year (three times the IPREM).

Higher thresholds apply in specific situations:

  • Up to €33,600 (four times IPREM) for general-category large families, persons with disabilities, or victims of terrorism.
  • Up to €42,000 (five times IPREM) for special-category large families, individuals with disabilities of 33% or more, or victims of gender-based violence.

Main requirements

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Hold a rental contract for their habitual and permanent residence.
  • Have Spanish nationality or legal residency.
  • Meet the established income limits.
  • Have a monthly rent equal to or below €900.
  • Be up to date with rent payments when applying.

The assistance must be used exclusively to cover rent and is not compatible with other rental support under the State Housing Plan 2022–2025, regional programmes, or any other public entity.

Exceptions include victims of gender-based violence, trafficking for sexual exploitation, sexual violence, individuals facing eviction, homeless persons, highly vulnerable individuals, non-contributory pension recipients, and minimum income beneficiaries.
