The Cine Torres in Sant Antoni de Portmany is set to begin a new chapter following the official handover of the building’s keys, marking its transformation into a major cultural and heritage facility for the entire island of Ibiza.
During an institutional visit held this week, representatives from the island administration and the Sant Antoni Town Council, together with the former owners, toured the property and reviewed its current condition. The building, now publicly owned, will regain a public use after its acquisition was formally completed last October.

Ibiza Receives the Keys to the Cine Torres, Set to Become a New Island-Wide Cultural Venue
The purchase of the Cine Torres was processed as a direct acquisition due to its significant historical and cultural value, in accordance with Spain’s public heritage legislation. The operation was promoted by the cultural authorities with the unanimous support of the Sant Antoni Town Council.
The total cost of the acquisition amounts to €2,750,000. Of this sum, €2,417,331.66 is funded through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union’s Next Generation EU funds, while €342,166.84 has been covered with the island administration’s own resources.
Cultural services are currently working on the preliminary design and the future basic and executive rehabilitation projects. The aim is to refurbish the Cine Torres and convert it into a new cultural and heritage centre, open to the public and designed to host cultural, educational and heritage-related activities for the island.
