Civil Protection volunteers have been honoured during the Balearic Islands Civil Protection Diada, held this Saturday in the town of Algaida. The event brought together nearly 250 volunteers from Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza and was attended by regional president Marga Prohens.

Special recognition was given to the volunteer units that took part in the response to the flooding caused by last autumn’s DANA in Ibiza and Formentera, as well as to the ten Balearic volunteers who assisted in fighting wildfires in Castilla y León during the summer.

A total of 35 Civil Protection volunteer groups participated in the event. The Formentera unit was unable to attend due to adverse weather conditions.

The Diada, now held for the second consecutive year after an eight-year hiatus, aims to highlight the dedication, training and public service commitment of Civil Protection volunteers across the Balearic Islands.

The programme included roundtable discussions on emergency operations carried out in 2025, presentations on the Festes Segures programme, the INUNCAIB emergency coordination body, and best practices in emergency communication and responsible use of social media.

The event also featured the distribution of 72 TetraIB communication terminals, reinforcing emergency response capabilities and coordination.
