The Institute of Balearic Studies (IEB) has presented its grant programmes for 2026, primarily aimed at supporting cultural and linguistic projects in the Balearic Islands. These funding calls, to be published this week in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands, reinforce institutional support for artistic creation, cultural outreach and the preservation of local identity and the Catalan language.
The announcement was made during a press conference attended by the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sports, Jaume Bauzà; the Director General for Culture, Llorenç Perelló, and the Deputy Director of the IEB, Ignacio Flores.

The IEB Strengthens Cultural and Linguistic Support with the 2026 Grant Programmes
With an overall budget of €3,915,000, the programmes include support for artist and professional mobility, international promotion of music and performing arts, visual arts projects, book translation and publishing, research and dissemination of local identity, promotion of the Catalan language, support for Catalan-language media, as well as fairs, festivals, awards and creative development initiatives.
The 2026 calls are built around two key priorities: administrative simplification and faster payment processes. Several grant lines will adopt a biennial format, reducing administrative repetition, while others will combine application and justification into a single procedure to streamline access to funding.
Applications will open on 3 March, reinforcing ongoing improvements in grant management. The 2025 results show strong engagement from the cultural sector, with a significant number of supported projects across visual arts, performing arts, music, fairs and festivals.
