The Balearic Islands are taking part in the national SpainSkills 2026 competition with 21 students from 14 vocational training centres, competing across 20 different skill categories. The opening gala has been held at the IFEMA exhibition centre, which will also host the competitions from Wednesday 25 February to Friday 27, with the medal ceremony scheduled for Saturday 28.
SpainSkills is a nationwide competition designed to assess the technical knowledge and practical skills of vocational education and training students, while also providing a meeting point for educational institutions, companies and public administrations. The event highlights vocational training as a pathway to professional excellence and showcases young talent at the national level.

The Balearic delegation covers a wide range of specialities. In industrial and technical fields, students are competing in bodywork repair, plumbing and heating, web development, electrical installations, automotive technology, automotive painting, refrigeration and air conditioning, network systems administration and renewable energies.
There is also strong representation in service-related sectors, including cookery, restaurant and bar service, hotel reception, social care, pharmacy and para-pharmacy, as well as in creative and craft-based disciplines such as floristry, hairdressing, beauty therapy, visual merchandising, bakery and landscape gardening.
The regional education authorities have acknowledged the commitment and effort of all participating students, as well as the contribution of teaching staff and training centres. Participation in SpainSkills is viewed as a key instrument to promote excellence, innovation and the national visibility of vocational training in the Balearic Islands.
The initiative forms part of broader vocational training support programmes and is funded through national and European mechanisms dedicated to education, training, employment and the social economy for the 2021–2027 period.
