Games workshops and samples of video games in Catalan language will take place in the next few weeks
The campaign “I tu, jugues en català?” has started this week with game workshops aimed at children and young people that have been carried out in es Mercadal, Palma and Maó with very good reception. The activities will be carried out throughout the Balearic Islands until December 20. The initiative, promoted by the Directorate General of Language Policy, aims to encourage the use of the Catalan language in the recreational field in the Balearic Islands and promote the use, knowledge and consumption of these products.

In addition to the board game workshops, aimed at children and young people between 6 and 16 years old, there will also be video game shows, which are organized with the collaboration of Gaming.cat and are aimed at young people from 16 years old and adults.

In addition to es Mercadal, Palma and Maó, activities will be held in Inca, Manacor, Ciutadella, Eivissa, Santa Eulària, Sant Josep and Sant Francesc. Thus, all the islands will host sessions of video games in Catalan and board game workshops. Places are limited and registration is required at dgpoling.caib.cat.

Since 2013, the Consortium for Linguistic Normalization of the Generalitat de Catalunya has been publicizing the range of games and toys in Catalan and promoting their use and consumption through the campaign “I tu, jugues en català?”.

The Govern de les Illes Balears, through the Directorate General of Linguistic Policy, wanted to join the campaign in 2017 with the aim of promoting the use of the Catalan language in the recreational field in the Balearic Islands. Information about the campaign can be found on the website jocsencatala.cat.
