In this way, the Regional Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs wants to speed up vaccination in this age group, which in the Balearic Islands is made up of 84,217 children, 26.51% of whom have already received their first dose.

The paediatric vaccination against COVID-19 began with the 9 to 11 year-old age group last December and, at the beginning of January, the 5 to 8 year-old age group was added.

Vaccination contributes to protection against the COVID-19 virus, making the possible severe effects of the disease milder in most cases. During the last week, 4,039 children aged 3 to 16 years have tested positive in the Balearic Islands.

From Monday, children will have to continue to access vaccination by appointment at BitCita (https://citavacunacovid.ibsalut.es/).
