The three judges who made the decision argued that for reasons of health, safety and security, his presence in the country could fuel anti-vaccine movements.
The ruling cannot be appealed, he will not play in the Australian Open on Monday and will not be allowed to return to the country for the next three years, although it could be reviewed.
The tennis player in a statement said he was deeply disappointed by the court’s ruling.
Djokovic has spent 11 days in Melbourne, six of them in detention and isolation.
His case has involved politics, sport, immigration and health.
