The Regional Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, through the Directorate General for Vocational Training and Higher Artistic Education, has just opened the admission and enrolment period for the new vocational training master’s degrees to be offered during the 2022-2023 academic year.
In total, four master’s degrees are offered for the next academic year: Cybersecurity in information technology environments, Artificial intelligence and big data, Maintenance of hybrid and electric vehicles and Development of video games and virtual reality, the latter two newly introduced in the Balearic Islands.
In addition, the number of centres offering these master’s degrees has been increased by four and the specialist course in artisan pastry and bakery has been maintained.
The offer is as follows:
- Cybersecurity in information technology environments.
It is taught at the CIFP Francesc de Borja Moll (Palma) and at the IES Sa Colomina (Ibiza).
- Artificial intelligence and big data
Taught at the CIFP Pau Casesnoves (Inca) and at the Instituto de Enseñanzas a Distancia de las Islas Baleares (IEDIB) (new offer for the academic year 2022-2023).
- Maintenance of hybrid and electric vehicles (new offer for the academic year 2022-2023).
Taught at CIFP Juníper Serra (Palma).
- Development of video games and virtual reality (new offer for the academic year 2022-2023).
Taught at CIFP Pau Casesnoves (Inca) and IES Manacor (Manacor).
Specialist course
- Artisan bakery and pastries
It is taught at the IES Josep Sureda i Blanes (Palma).
It should be noted that for the first time the Institute of Distance Learning of the Balearic Islands (IEDIB) is implementing a master’s degree in artificial intelligence and big data.
The Director General of Vocational Training and Higher Artistic Education, Antoni Baos, highlighted “the firm commitment that the Regional Ministry of Education and Vocational Training is making with these courses, courses aimed at students who obtain their vocational training qualifications. These master’s degrees and specialisation courses are strategic for the Government as they clearly contribute to the consolidation and diversification of our productive fabric, while at the same time they are training courses with a very high rate of job placement”.
A further step in the specialisation of vocational training graduates
The specialisation courses aim to complement the skills of people who already have a vocational training qualification and facilitate lifelong learning, as well as improve employability and productivity.
The timetable for the admission process for VET master’s degrees for the academic year 2022-2023 is as follows:
● Admission applications (preferably online): from 6 to 20 September, both included.
● Drawing of the letters for the tie-breaker: 22 September.
● Publication of the provisional list of admitted students: 26 September.
● Period for complaints: 26, 27 and 28 September.
● Publication of the definitive list of those admitted: 3 October.
● Registration at the educational centre: 3 and 4 October.

The resizing of the vocational training offer is funded by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training and by the European Union-NextGenerationEU, in the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan Facility.
