The Balearic Water Agency (ABAQUA), the Balearic Islands Tourism Strategy Agency (AETIB) and the Chemical Cluster of the Balearic Islands (CliqIB) are organising a conference next Wednesday to promote responsible water use and reuse in tourist environments. This is one of the events promoted by the Wat’SaveReuse project, co-financed by the European Union’s LIFE programme.

The aim of the conference is to create a meeting for the exchange of good practices in sustainable water management. Thus, the secretary general of ABAQUA, Juan Calvo, and representatives of AETIB and CliqIB will participate to explain what the project consists of. For their part, the councillors of Environment of Eivissa and Santa Eulària, Jordi Salewski and Mònica Madrid, will present the Sustainable Water Management Plan and the Ordinance on Sustainable Water Use of their respective municipalities, and the councillor of Environment of Formentera, Antoni Tur, will talk about the digitization of the municipal water supply network.
The second part of the morning will be devoted to the Calvià reuse project, explained by the manager of Calvià 2000, Javier González; the experience of reusing regenerated water in Sant Lluís, by the mayoress, Carol Marqués; and the councillor for the Environment of Alcúdia will present the experiences in saving and reusing water in the municipality.
The conference is aimed at political representatives, council technicians, companies related to the water sector and other interested administrations.
The Wat’SaveReuse project, promoted by the Euroregion, was launched in 2020 to raise awareness in the tourism sector about saving water and alleviating water shortages. Since then, a dissemination campaign has been launched, meetings have been held with the tourism sector and participatory workshops have been held in order to bring together those involved in saving a limited resource.
