The Institute for Business Innovation of the Balearic Islands (IDI), has been appointed ambassador of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), an event that aims to promote entrepreneurship at an international level. Every year, the GEW promotes thousands of local, national and global events during the third week of November to inspire citizens to become entrepreneurs, to provide them with all the necessary resources and to connect them with all the agents of the ecosystem. This year, GEW will be held from 14 to 20 November.
The IDI, as a regional development agency, develops together with the Employment Service of the Balearic Islands (SOIB) the necessary tools and offers guidance service to entrepreneurs in the Balearic Islands, through the Iemprèn programme. It is for this reason that the Self-Employment Foundation, the driving force behind the GEW at a national level, has appointed the IDI as an ambassador of the GEW in the Balearic Islands in order to achieve the greater promotion of the entrepreneurship week through the joint work of all the institutions involved.
As ambassadors of the GEW, the IDI’s objective will be to focus the attention of the greatest number of people, organisations and companies on the importance of entrepreneurs and their talent in the Balearic Islands, as well as the need for an entrepreneurial ecosystem that is favourable to the creation of companies. More than fifteen events have been organised on the occasion of the GEW, including training, presentations and forums, both in person and online, in order to reach all citizens. The activities are available at www.iempren.es.
In addition, the IDI will involve all the entities that form part of the Network of Public Business Services (XSPE), an IDI initiative that is unique in Spain and which brings together all the entities and organisations in the Balearic Islands that work to promote entrepreneurship, as one of the ambassador’s functions is to establish alliances with other organisations in the area so that they can also organise activities for the GEW, all to boost the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the region.
The last edition of the GEW held more than 40,000 events in 180 countries, involved more than 20,000 organisations and had more than ten million participants.
