The number of Minimum Vital Income beneficiaries exceeds 2 million

The Minimum Vital Income (IMV) has reached 690,214 households in which 2,013,439 people live, according to statistics published by the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) up to the end of September.

Minimum Vital Income beneficiaries

This benefit, which is paid by Social Security, is having a special impact on the reduction of child poverty since, of the total number of beneficiaries, 43% are minors (873,583). Moreover, if we take into account the number of households, 68% have at least one child (469,091).

According to these data, in two out of every three households, the benefit holder is a woman and, if we take into account the total number of beneficiaries, 54% are women (1,087,956).

The CAPI, which came into force in January 2022, is an allowance of 115 euros per household per month for children from 0 to 3 years of age; 80.5 euros per month for each child between 3 and 6 years of age and 57.5 euros per month for each child between 6 and 18 years of age.
