Christmas campaign to boost sales in the Part Forana
The Consell de Mallorca, through the Department of Economic Promotion and Local Development, in collaboration with the Federation of Commerce Entrepreneurs of the Balearic Islands (AFEDECO) and the Association of Small and Medium Commerce of Mallorca (PIMECO) have presented a commercial action to boost sales in the Part Forana.
It is a Christmas shop window competition, especially for the Three Wise Men, which aims to get the island’s shops to dress up to celebrate Christmas and also to win important prizes. It is a campaign aimed only at the Part Forana and Palma has been excluded because it already has a specific campaign to support commerce promoted by the Town Hall.
The Christmas campaign to boost local commerce was presented by the councillor for Economic Promotion and Local Products, Pilar Amate; the president of AFEDECO, Antoni Gayà; the vice-president of PIMECO, Carolina Domingo, and the island’s director of Commerce, Alfredo Arias.
Shops must register via the AFEDECO and PIMECO e-mail addresses between 19 and 29 December using a registration form. The campaign begins on Monday 19 December and ends on 6 January.
As councillor Pilar Amate pointed out, “the objectives of the campaign are several and they all come together in the same sentiment, the illusion”.
“With this window display campaign, we want to recover such a tradition of ours as the recognition of the figures of the Three Wise Men and the children’s excitement at such a special arrival, but we also want Mallorca’s shopkeepers to put excitement into their shop windows so that there is a kind of competition to see which is the most beautiful and that this excitement can be transmitted to passers-by so that they come to visit the shop windows and bring the public closer to the shops on our island”, explained Amate.
The selection of the finalist shop windows will take place between the 8th and 10th of January and, subsequently, the designated jury, made up of members of the Consell de Mallorca, AFEDECO and PIMECO, will meet to decide the three winners.
The awards ceremony will be held on 15 January and the winners will receive prizes ranging from €1,000 to €250. To promote the circular economy, these prizes will consist of economic vouchers that will have to be consumed in local commerce.
